PickbenchBot and PickbenchRetail

Pickbench runs two automated agents. If you saw one of these user agents in your logs, this page says what it does and how to control it.

PickbenchBot (catalog crawler)

PickbenchBot/0.1 (+https://pickbench.ai/bot)

It reads public product pages on brands' own websites and public government data (such as US fuel-economy and vehicle-safety records) to record product facts, each with its source address and a hash of the page. It never fetches retailers or review sites, never logs in, sends no cookies and submits no forms.

It obeys robots.txt for the product token PickbenchBot, honours a Crawl-delay of up to 120 seconds (a longer one makes it skip the site), and sends at most one request every 10 seconds to each host, robots.txt requests included.

How to block or limit PickbenchBot

Add these lines to your site's robots.txt. A rule for PickbenchBot takes effect within a day, and a site that refuses us its robots.txt is not crawled.

PickbenchRetail (licensed data clients)

PickbenchRetail/0.1 (+https://pickbench.ai/bot; automated agent)

It identifies our clients for retailer and product-data APIs that we use under their own terms, within each source's rate and caching limits. It calls those official APIs only and does not crawl retailer websites.

What we do with what it reads

We use pages only as sources for product facts in our measurements, and keep a compressed copy with its hash as evidence. We do not republish pages, sell them, or use them to train AI models. To correct a fact or ask us to stop, write to the address below.
